As Fayette State Court Judge, I have the privilege each day of ensuring that citizens of this county have access to the court and criminal justice system.
But I recognize that with our busy schedules, most of us do not give any thought to the court system, that is, until we receive a summons for jury service, are sued, get a traffic ticket or have some other contact with the criminal justice system. Read more
February 20, 2012 - Sandy Creek Mock Trial Team Advances to State Championship
Sandy Creek High School’s Mock Trial team has advanced for the second consecutive year as the Region 15 champion of the Georgia High School Mock Trial Competition. Sandy Creek prevailed over five other teams, including those from Whitewater High School and Newton County schools. Read More

Judge McMillian’s talk centered on the role of the State Court in Fayette County’s judicial system, which includes handling misdemeanors, traffic cases, ordinance violations, and civil cases (except for divorces, injunctions and cases involving title to land). Fayette County is unique in that it is one of the few counties of its size with only a single state court judge, making Judge McMillian’s docket of approximately 7,000 cases a year one of the busiest in Georgia. Governor Sonny Perdue today announced three judicial appointments in the Griffin Judicial Circuit. Robert Crawford and Fletcher Sams were appointed to the Superior Court of the Griffin Judicial Circuit. Carla McMillian was appointed to the State Court of Fayette County in the Griffin Judicial Circuit. The vacancy on the Fayette County State Court was created by the appointment of Fletcher Sams to the Superior Court of the Griffin Judicial Circuit. Read More
